About Pape Village Neighbourhood

From cosmopolitan chic to country charm, Toronto's neighbourhoods offer an eclectic mix of cultural activities, architecture, food and shopping.

Pape Village is a modest neighbourhood north of Danforth Avenue full of bakeries, restaurants and small shops. The main arteries are Pape Avenue and O'Connor and each is dotted with casual restaurants, bakeries and other local hangouts.

Although the Pape Village name was originally the product of local business marketing efforts, some real estate agents and local residents have since used the term to also refer to the adjacent residential area. Otherwise, the area is generally known as Old East York.

This urban community is very family-friendly. Of the 1,200 families that call this area home, 66% of these households have kids. People in this neighbourhood speak Greek more so than other neighbourhoods in Toronto. Residents are mainly Greek, but the neighbourhood's Chinese community adds diversity to the mix.
